Harvard Business School has announced the deadlines for the 2020-2021 MBA admissions season. The deadline for round one is September 8th. The second round will end on January 5th. The application will open mid-June.

First round candidates will receive their decision by December 10th. Last year, HBS interview invitations - and first rejections - went out on October 1st.

HBS has made big news recently with a declaration that this year it will allow anyone who wants so to defer admissions for any reason. It is expected that business schools this year will have a significantly increased applicant pool, similar to 2008-2009 when many young professionals who were laid off from their jobs went back to school. In 2019, the admission rate at HBS was 11.5% (making it the second most selective MBA program in the US, after Stanford). The class average GMAT was 728, with a range all the way from 590 to 800. The average undergraduate GPA was 3.7. The split between applicants who chose GMAT vs GRE was 4 to 1, with the median GRE score of 163. 938 matriculated candidates averaged 27 years of age and 4.7 years of full-time work experience.
